X-Files// What the Fox Says [HD]

Well, this makes me unreasonably happy.
This vid has popped up on Tumblr here and there, but none of us who worked on it have ever posted it, so why not?

If you’ve seen it, you know what you’re in for. If you don’t, no spoilers are given. It’s a romance, people. An epic romance.
Epic and TRAGIC. But one of these days that sequel is gonna happen.
One of the best fanvids I’ve ever seen.
And when she says ‘one of the best […] EVER’ (emphasis mine), lemme tell ya: it’s really, really true.
The vidder is bironic, and her vid post is here: http://bironic.livejournal.com/290689.html
She recently posted a nifty clip/source guide here: http://bironic.livejournal.com/303285.html
If you like the vid, think about going to her LJ to give her some vid-love! I’m sure she’d appreciate it.
Can I just geek for a second over how this photoset showcases some delightfully anvilicious camerawork in those last three images? Suddenly, compared to many of the earlier shots, Spock and Kirk are balanced in the frame. Neither is given the foreground or more dynamic positioning; they’re of equal height and visual importance in the shot. The visuals work thematically to show us how perfectly in tune these characters are, and the contrast in how the two are filmed drives home the shift in their relationship. (Anvils everywhere! Delicious and great for vidding. And photosets.)
Fever (Twilight) — Oh Bella, honey, no. (vid post & download link on LJ)
(It’s been ages since I first posted this, but I really do plan to make more Twilight vids. Eventually. I’ll probably call them the Why Bella Swan Needs Therapy series.)
Y’all! Because I mostly use this tumblr for reblogging random pretty, I started another tumblr under my vidding handle specifically for my vids/meta/other original content. Feel free to follow one or both or none! I’ll be posting my past vids over there every so often, too. Like this one. Oh god, I saw the last Twilight movie the other day and now I have Plans.
I was working on an edit and accidently flipped it
and wow I am not okay
the-faro-fixer: #I want you to look me in the eye and tell me you don’t feel it too #Stiles says #and he should feel victorious for winning the argument when Derek looks away #but when Derek flexes his fingers and steps away all he feels is the coldness of loss #sometimes the truth doesn’t set you free it merely reveals that you’ll always be a prisoner #Teen Wolf #derekstiles
DON’T HOLD YOURSELF BACK, DEREK
HE’S ALMOST LEGAL
BRB FLIPPING EVERY STEREK SCENE EVER TO GIVE ME NEW FEELS
It’s so interesting! In TV/movies scenes are “blocked”, which means everyone knows where they are supposed to stand, etc. One of the interesting aspects of Western culture is that we read left to right, which means that our brains automatically equate the things we see on the left as first and thus more important. Directors, etc understand this, so when they block out a scene, the person/storyline they are concentrating on is usually on the left. It’s a subtle way of directing the audience where to look for importance, for us to know who’s story is being told.
Basically what I’m saying is that in the originally scene with Stile son the left, we automatically saw it primarily through Stiles’ perspective, he was the one being threatened, he was the one standing up for himself, etc. Derek was the one being threatening.
So, it’s so cool to see how when someone flips the picture and now Derek is on the left, suddenly people are writing his story - he’s the one denying what they could be, he’s the one actively looking away, etc. Because suddenly he’s the protagonist the the scene.
I just wanted to point this out because it’s another subtle way TV/movies work to make the audience think in certain ways.
This commentary is awesome and perceptive and the Teen Wolf fandom continues to wow me at regular intervals.
brb throwing my laptop against a hard surface.
